We Are Committed To Helping Your Child Find Success in School

Send or scan in a copy of your child’s IEP/504 plan/or doctor’s diagnosis report, even if it has expired, and email it to admissions@sdrock.com

Our ES program multidisciplinary team will review the IEP/504/doctor diagnosis report and determine if The Rock Academy is able to support your child’s academic needs within our program.

If your child is entering Kindergarten-9th grade, we also require an ES program screening. If your child is entering 10th-12th grade, our team will review your child’s transcripts and teacher recommendations.

If the ES team determines that we are able to support your child’s academic needs, you will be invited to complete our online Rock Academy application.

There is an additional cost on top of regular tuition.

FAQs

Does my child need to have an IEP/504 to be in the ES program?

In lower elementary school, your child does not need to have an IEP to be in the ES program, as we believe that children progress developmentally at different paces. Your child will still receive support and remediation as they develop. However, by 4th grade, if the child is still requiring academic support, specialized instruction, and academic accommodations, we work with families to get their child assessed through their pediatrician, psychologist, private assessors, and the San Diego Unified School District. By 9th grade, every student who is receiving academic accommodations must have an IEP/504.

What type of disabilities does the ES program serve?

Over the years, we have served many students with learning disabilities like visual and auditory processing disorders, ADHD, ADD, executive functioning challenges, slow processing, memory disabilities, dyslexia, high functioning autism, medical disorders, etc. However, many disabilities are on a spectrum and are labeled mild, moderate, and severe. At this time, the ES program can only serve students who are diagnosed with mild disabilities.

My child's IEP/504 has expired. Can I still apply to the Rock Academy with an expired IEP/504?

Yes, we will review the expired IEP/504 and complete a screening with your child. If we determine we can serve your child, then we will walk you through the process of getting an updated IEP.

I suspect my child has a disability, can I still apply to The Rock Academy?

Yes, we will review your child’s report cards, teacher recommendations, and we will complete a screening with your child. If we determine we can serve your child, then we will walk you through the process of getting your child an IEP/504.
