Academics / Educational Support Program

We are committed
to helping your child
find success in school.

We provide specialized learning for every student.

We believe every child is fearfully and wonderfully made by God and that God has a unique plan for their life. Our Educational Support (ES) program specializes in instructional support for students with mild disabilities and learning challenges. Through the ES program, each child receives an individualized education plan built for their unique academic, social, and emotional needs.

Providing assistance to K-12 students with learning difficulties.

At the Rock Academy, each child is known and their needs are cared for. We provide specialized support for students who are challenged with mild learning difficulties, and opportunities for those students to find their unique identity within God’s plan. Our individualized support plans will set your child up for success and ensure their individual, God-given strengths and gifts are cultivated and celebrated.

A community that supports individual learning.

Here, students benefit academically from a combination of classroom, small group, and one-on-one instruction tailored to their needs. They receive a culture of support from teachers, families, parents, and peers that maximizes their success. By engaging in an intentional, faith-focused, diverse community, our students learn from many perspectives and develop holistically in academics, social skills, and spiritual growth.

The Five-Step Enrollment Process

  • 1

Send or scan in a copy of your child’s IEP/504 plan/or doctor’s diagnosis report, even if it has expired, and email it to admissions@sdrock.com

  • 2

Our ES program multidisciplinary team will review the IEP/504/doctor diagnosis report and determine if The Rock Academy is able to support your child’s academic needs within our program.

  • 3

If your child is entering Kindergarten-9th grade, we also require an ES program screening. If your child is entering 10th-12th grade, our team will review your child’s transcripts and teacher recommendations.

  • 4

If the ES team determines that we are able to support your child’s academic needs, you will be invited to complete our online Rock Academy application.

  • 5

The ES program is an additional annual cost of $3,450 in addition to regular tuition.

FAQs

In lower elementary school, your child does not need to have an IEP to be in the ES program, as we believe that children progress developmentally at different paces. Your child will still receive support and remediation as they develop. However, by 4th grade, if the child is still requiring academic support, specialized instruction, and academic accommodations, we work with families to get their child assessed through their pediatrician, psychologist, private assessors, and the San Diego Unified School District. By 9th grade, every student who is receiving academic accommodations must have an IEP/504.

Over the years, we have served many students with learning disabilities like visual and auditory processing disorders, ADHD, ADD, executive functioning challenges, slow processing, memory disabilities, dyslexia, high functioning autism, medical disorders, etc. However, many disabilities are on a spectrum and are labeled mild, moderate, and severe. At this time, the ES program can only serve students who are diagnosed with mild disabilities.
