EE Curriculum

EEC Family Handbook

Our curriculum has been intentionally developed and implements sequential expected student outcomes that are developmentally appropriate and enhance a child’s growth. It is researched based and aligns with the California Infant, Toddler & Preschool Learning Foundations, California’s Desired Results Developmental Profile, ACSI Accreditation standards, and California’s Kindergarten Standards. It incorporates nine domains of learning which include: spiritual, social, emotional, language & literacy, math, creative arts, science, physical (fine motor & gross motor), and health. It is based on sound biblical principles and provides opportunities for children to achieve their optimum development

We believe children learn best in a play-based environment where readiness skills are taught through a balance of hands-on, self-directed and teacher directed activities.

Our environment promotes age-appropriate exploration, discovery, self-awareness, social interactions, problem solving, critical thinking, and meaningful experiences. We cultivate skills and attitudes that contribute and lead to success in everyday situations in life.

The Rock Early Education Center has been so fantastic for our children. The environment is so warm and friendly, and our children have learned so much from their amazing teachers. It really has been so instrumental in their lives. We feel very blessed to be part of such an excellent school. We couldn’t be happier here!

My passion for the Rock Academy stems from my passion for learning. I get to be part of a community that is continually investigating new topics in an ever-changing world and always finding new meaningful ways to invest in the lives of our students.

I was very happy when my kids started going to The Rock Early Ed Center. They have learned to pray, sing, and socialize with friends. I love when they sing songs about Jesus and want to pray at night. Our kids love to come to school every day and love their teachers. The teachers and staff are great! They are always available to answer my questions or concerns. Sending my kids to The Rock Academy is one of the best decisions I made.

  • As team partners, we desire to provide a stimulating environment that provides your child with a plethora of experiences and opportunities to grow in all areas of development. As our vision statement states, we desire: Each day, each child will GROW a little bit more…….

  • We desire to create a climate that partners with parents, along with celebrating, supporting, and affirming children as they discover and become all that God has created them to be spiritually, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically.
  • We provide a Christ-centered environment, where children have ample opportunities to grow in all developmental areas. We believe in honoring the developmental sequencing of growth that God created. We honor each child God created and desire to help him or her become a self-directed, independent individual. We respect each child as unique and special and understand they have their own rate and style of learning. Our program and staff acknowledge strengths and facilitate individual growth.

  • Children’s growth and development are interrelated and one is often connected with another, therefore we choose to value all areas of development and not put a higher priority on one versus another.
  • As professionals in the early education field, we know that the first few days of school for a child entering a new environment may bring some anxiety or fear. We also know that those who are familiar with our environment and may be moving to a new classroom and have a new teacher may also have apprehensions. We respect these feelings and approach the beginning of school with sensitivity and understand what may be easy for some, may not be for others. We approach each child with a positive, gentle attitude and try to connect and will make every effort to help your child adjust as easily as possible. Know that there may be some tears: much TLC, assurance, and comfort is given to those children. We will keep parents notified if their child is having a difficult time.
  • Before the 1st day of class, parents can participate in a Family Interview as part of the admissions process. Parents come and stay with their child in the new classroom to see the Early Education Center in action. This includes meeting the teacher, meeting new classroom friends, and inviting your child to engage in activities to ease into that 1st day jitters.
  • Our Rock Academy EE teachers love to partner with parents. Newsletters are sent home 2 times a month, along with various emails. We have an open door policy and our teachers are willing to discuss any concerns, answers questions, or set up meetings.
  • We view ourselves as an extension of the home, desiring to come alongside parents. We provide effective communication and “train and educate” on behalf of parents, not in place of them. We desire to build an environment where a strong partnership and connectedness develops between staff and families therefore building security, trust, and value. We desire to provide resources to encourage and support parents on early education topics.
  • Throughout the year, the teachers are continually making observations, documenting milestones, collecting samples of work, and assessing the developmental growth of each child in all the nine learning domains. These notations and observations will be transferred to the child’s growth evaluation form that will be distributed to parents at the February Parent Teacher Conference.

Those children who spend a full day with us will be required to spend some time resting. Community Care Licensing regulations require childcare centers requires to make provisions for children to nap or rest after lunch. The length depends upon the age and need of the child. Children are expected to rest quietly, allowing those who need to sleep the opportunity to do so. Older children will be required to rest and after a specific time, if they have not fallen asleep, will be allowed to do quiet activities.

On average our children are outside at three separate times throughout the day. The three time frames equal approximately a total of 2 to 2.5 hours per day, weather permitting.

The EE Center is a part of the inclusive Academy School system which includes EE – 12th grade. The EE Center is informed when Kindergarten registration will take place. Spaces are held for those interested in enrolling and once a family inquires, they will follow the procedures put in place.

We have an open door policy and we welcome parents and grandparents to visit and participate at our school throughout the year. We also encourage parents and children who are enrolled for the following year to visit. If you have a few extra minutes and desire to come visit with your child, we say, come!!

As your team partner, we encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s school experience. Parent involvement is not mandatory, but we love parents to participate in as many activities and events as possible. Some of the ways parents can be involved include: Provide items for our special events Participate in a special class project Bring in “wish items” Help your child’s teacher with cutting art supplies Helping with an art or cooking project Maintenance / equipment handiwork Share your hobby, career, talent, culture.
