Mr. White has been married to his high school sweetheart, Karen for 34 years. Together they have four children and one grandchild; Michael, 32; Daniel, 29; Sarah, 21 and Rebecca 18. Their granddaughter, Leyla is a year and half old. Rebecca is a freshman at Seton Hall University in New Jersey; Sarah is attending community college and working part-time; Daniel is a graduate of San Francisco State University and works full time in the Bay Area; and Michael is a licensed electrician and lives with his wife Ariel and daughter Leyla in Mission Viejo. They have all attended Saddleback Church in Lake Forest since 1986.
Raised in a Catholic home, Mr. White received his first Holy Communion at age seven and his Confirmation at age twelve. By the time he was in High School he attended mass every day of the week. He does not remember a time when he did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. However, during his senior year his father had a salvation experience that was different than Mr. White’s experiences had been in the Catholic Church. Somewhat confused by his father’s conversion there began a dialogue between him and his dad. After some time Mr. White’s father led him into a personal relationship with Christ. Mr. White began reading the scriptures daily and eventually became convinced that he needed to be baptized as an adult, by immersion, and leave the Catholic Church that he loved. He and His father were baptized together and began looking for Evangelical Protestant Churches. He and his family settled on Saddleback Church in Lake Forest under the leadership of Pastor Rick Warren. Since 1986 he and his family have been members there. His children were all baptized at Saddleback Church and his family has served in various ministries including, small group Bible study leaders, PEACE Team participants, short team missionary visits to Mexico, and most recently as a volunteer at Saddleback’s food pantry.
As a high school and collegiate athlete Rick has many accomplishments on his resume. For example:
- All League, All Orange County, All-CIF honors in both varsity baseball and football at Mission Viejo High SchoolMr. White has been in Christian Education for nearly thirty years. He started as an elementary teacher, junior high teacher, and high school teacher. He has served as a coach and athletic director for many years. Over the past fifteen years he has served as Head of School; Principal; and Assistant Principal at three different schools. In 2010 he led Capistrano Valley Christian Schools to a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award designated by the United States Department of Education. In 2009 the Council of American Private School Education (CAPE) selected his school, CVCS, as one of the top fifty private schools in America. For the past twelve years he has served as an accreditation visiting team chairman for both the Association of Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. He is the past President of the Tri-Way League of Orange County and currently serves The Rock Academy as Athletic Director, Assistant Baseball Coach and High School Bible Teacher.
