Robotics at the Rock Academy

by - September 23, 2011
Wow, November is over and December is upon us.  The team did a ton of great outreach events in November.  Chad Doran set up a Robotics Demonstration and Fun Day at the San Diego Ronald McDonald House which was AWESOME!  There were lots of kids there that enjoyed driving the team robot, trying to score points, and drawing pictures of their dream robot.  One HUGE Thank You to SAIC, which granted the team a total of $4,000.00.  This brings us just slightly half way to our fundraising goal of $10k. The whole team was instrumental in getting the first ever Rock Academy Pre-Tournament Scrimmage and Group Build Day on November 19th.  We had 12 teams from around the county attend which was over 100 students and mentors.  The Rock Cafe was taken over by swarms of robots.  Se-Won was sending media alerts out left and right trying to keep up with everything and was actually able to get an article, written by Avery with supporting pictures from Lemuel and Richard Cuthill, published in the Pt. Loma Peninsula Beacon which hits the press this Thursday, December 1st.  The team is currently getting the robot ready for the first Championship Tournament this year up in Los Angeles.  That tournament takes place on December 10th, so please put some huge prayers out that Saturday.  The team has a great chance of reaching above and beyond their goals this year and every bit of support helps.  Ask around and check up on the team now and then and be ready for some great news the beginning of January!!!
