Victoria was fortunate enough to be raised by two wonderful, intelligent, and creative parents who valued family, attending church, participating in their community, and performing together as a family. Her mother is an accomplished musician/vocalist who attended Juilliard in New York, and her father was a wonderful dad, husband, and military officer/pilot whose father was a prolific ecclesiastic conductor and composer. Performing was inevitable as a child and her parents, as well as her two incredible sisters, and herself were musical and enjoyed performing together as a family on a regular basis. Victoria is grateful for the foundation that God provided her through her family.
Victoria felt God’s calling in high school as she began to question certain religious doctrine and wondered about inconsistencies between what she knew and what she was told the Bible taught. She continued to question and ultimately began to read the Bible in college to find out for herself. She also participated in an Inter-Faith group and in a Billy Graham Crusade, but continued to search for the Lord’s leading. Her pivotal situation for accepting Christ presented itself when she was looking for a dormitory space so that she could be closer to her graduate school. After an exhaustive search for inexpensive housing, she was given a tip to call a local Christian college to see if they had any dorm space left. To make a long story short, she attained the last slot and it was the example of her roommates at that Christian college that led her to solidifying her relationship with Christ. She really enjoyed their Bible studies and experienced their mercy and love, but most of all their forgiveness – they truly depicted who Jesus is.
That life-changing decision led her into performing Christian music, being on a Christian worship team, being a church pianist, choosing to stay home with her children, and ultimately, homeschooling her children. She is so grateful that she was led to accept the Lord’s calling and hopes to continue her Christian ministry as a Performing Arts teacher and mentor at The Rock Academy.
Victoria’s call to teaching occurred early in my life. Her mother was not only an accomplished performer, but also a music/choir teacher and musical theater director, and taught for years at a variety of public and private schools. At her mother’s urging, Victoria began directing a children’s church choir at 16, as well as teaching piano and guitar. Now she teaches piano and voice and she has been teaching in public, private, charter, home, or after-school programs ever since then. After the birth of her first child, she decided that she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom so she could raise her children in a Christian home (Deut. 6: 4-9). Eventually, she opted to homeschool and is so grateful for that experience with her four children. There is a bond that occurs in parenting and teaching which is undeniable, and she considers herself extremely fortunate to have wonderful relationships with her four children.
Victoria’s life has been filled with challenges, but due to those challenges, she strives to not lose sight of the fact that God is the ultimate Ruler of this universe, and that with an ever-growing Biblical faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, one can persevere, conquer, and overcome immense difficulties and challenges without becoming embittered.
Victoria has been a Musical Theater Director, performer, teacher, and accompanist for CYT since 1995 as well as various other Theater companies in Riverside and San Diego Counties
