Ryan Chapman
Jr. and Sr. High English Teacher
BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Literature from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Ca; Cleared Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from National University; RICA certified by the state of California
Ryan is the younger child in a family where values and Christian faith were held above all else. Growing up, his years were filled with sports, sports, and even more sports. He loved every minute of it. His older brother could pass as his twin to which Ryan’s previous students can attest; they always did a “double-take” and exclaimed “you look so much alike! You even sound the same!” Ryan received Christ at a very young age and was enrolled in Christian education from preschool through college. Even though Ryan knew all the Bible stories and the appropriate answers to life’s moral questions, it wasn’t until eighth grade when he began to have a true relationship with the Lord. Through mission trips with his worship team and moments of spiritual awakening and growth, Ryan began to learn the true meaning of Christianity. Each day Ryan strives to become more like Christ.
Ryan’s calling to become a teacher was ever clear as the years progressed. Whether it was group work in elementary school, helping his teammates pass certain subjects in high school or working in the writing center at college, Ryan knew that teaching was his God-given gift and joy. His love for English and writing came straight from the home as Ryan’s mother has been an English teacher for over twenty years. He was always amazed at how much work and time she put into teaching, and yet here Ryan is following in her footsteps. Ryan remembers learning Shakespeare through a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip when he was thirteen, just so he could help his mom with correcting the twelfth grade papers!
God has been ever faithful in allowing Ryan to teach sixth grade for the last seven years in the private sector, the last two at The Rock Academy, all the while molding him according to His plans. Ryan has just finished clearing his Multiple Subjects Credential through the BTSA program, and will be attaining a Single Subject English Credential this year. Ryan is blessed with a loving wife, Melissa, an adorable four year old daughter, Emma, and Graham, his one year old son. Ryan strives not only to be a Godly example and mentor for his students, but to the family with which God has entrusted him as well.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us; to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen
