Special Education Teacher - PILLARS Program
MA in Education, Special Education, Point Loma Nazarene University; Special Education Teaching Credential, Point Loma Nazarene University; BA Political Science, Minor English, University of San Diego
Natasha was born and raised in Los Angeles. She went to Catholic schools from kindergarten to college, and came to San Diego to attend the University of San Diego. Natasha attended Catholic schools but would also attend a Presbyterian church on Sundays with her family. This was quite confusing while growing up. Natasha was not part of any youth groups at the Presbyterian church, and the Catholic schools never encouraged her to make a commitment to Christ.

It was not until college that she had a group of friends who loved Christ, and she was able to grow spiritually with them; however she still felt a bit lost and confused. Of course the Lord had this special plan for her the whole time. Through a few difficult trials during this time, she was led to accept a job as a special education teacher’s assistant at Springall Academy, a non-profit school. There she felt God’s grace to teach students with learning challenges. While also working at Point Loma Nazarene church, she felt a warmth and love from the church and people and she made a commitment to strengthen her love with Christ. Friends at the church encouraged her to go to Point Loma Nazarene University where Natasha obtained her credential and Masters degree. She continued to teach at Springall Academy for six years, where she did her special education student teaching. She also did her regular education student teaching at Correia Middle School.

After staying at home with her daughter for a year and a half, God brought her to the Rock Academy to start an academic support program. She is starting her third year and is excited to continue to bring her knowledge and love for students who need assistance with their academics at the Rock Academy. Natasha is also an adjunct professor at Point Loma Nazarene University in the special education department.

In her spare time, Natasha enjoys reading, writing, going to the movies with her husband and spending time with her daughter and soon, another daughter.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
