Lauren Gibbs

I grew up in Tustin, California, with loving, supportive parents and two brothers. I can always remember going to Christian Summer Camps or Sunday school with family friends, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school, through friends on my volleyball team, that I began to see who Jesus Christ really was. It was then I became a Christian, and my life was changed eternally.

My new relationship with Christ grew as I attended Christian activities such as: Young Life, Hume Lake Christian Camp, and youth group at Calvary Church of Santa Ana. Ultimately, being surrounded by Christian friends helped to solidify my desire to walk with Lord.

To continue to grow spiritually and academically I decided to attend Point Loma Nazarene University where I graduated with a B.A. in child development. Once I discovered my passion for teaching I continued at Point Loma to receive my teaching credential.

My faith has been encouraged and stretched while working summers as a head counselor for elementary age students at Hume Lake. After graduating I also spent the summer in Quito, Ecuador, volunteering at an orphanage for special needs and abandoned children. God truly blessed me through that experience.

San Diego has now become my home, and I love it. I spend time enjoying the beauty of the ocean, listening to good music, creating art projects, cooking and baking, going to the zoo, spending quality time with friends, and running my dog Mijo on the cliffs. Most of all, I am blessed to have mentors, friends, great roommates, a church, and a community that encourage me to be an example of Christ.
