Lauren was born and raised right here in San Diego. From interfaith backgrounds, her parents raised her and her younger brother in a loving home that encouraged spiritual knowledge and awareness. A proud family of Levites and strong members of the Temple, her father Scott and her grandmother Polly taught Lauren of the beauty and tradition of Judaism. This sparked an interest in spirituality and led to a love for Jesus and His people. Lauren further developed a desire to love and serve the children of God after spending time with a family friend in ministry, learning from her mother’s example as a selfless servant, digging into the Word of God, and participating in His ministry for many years. Lauren is thrilled that her calling in ministry has now brought her to the Rock Academy!

Lauren’s launch into full-time ministry started immediately after college. The day after graduation, Lauren was on a plane to Malawi and Kenya; and she returned a changed person. The journey to these beautiful lands opened her eyes to the needs of God’s people she had never experienced. It became clear to Lauren that the people of these nations and the issues they faced were passions of hers, and she had been called by God to do something radical about it. A few days after her return from that whirlwind trip, God opened another opportunity for Lauren to create an AIDS Awareness Exhibit that would tour throughout college campuses in San Diego. God used the exhibit in incredible ways; World Vision picked up the experience, and Lauren then joined their team. Over the next two years Lauren toured the AIDS Experience across 17 states, speaking to audiences of all ages.

While on tour with the AIDS Exhibit in 2006, Lauren was seriously injured in a freak accident. After realizing she had been delivered from death and that her purpose on earth was not complete, Lauren heard God’s calling for continued full-time ministry. She is thankful to her husband Derek for his unyielding support and to her community of family and friends for their faith and motivation along her journey.

In the spring of 2008, the Exhibit tour brought Lauren to the Rock where she was asked to speak at the Junior and Senior High Chapel, as well to the 1825 Ministry events. It was from this experience that Lauren came to know Dr. Andujo, Mr. Chavez, and the fantastic Rock Academy staff. She knew in her heart that she would return and work in this spirit-filled environment again. When World Vision needed time to restore the well-traveled AIDS Experience Exhibit, Lauren welcomed the extra time to spend with her husband and family. She was thrilled to begin substitute teaching at the Rock Academy last fall, and she is grateful that this experience led to her current position on the administrative team. She feels truly blessed and proud to be a Rock Warrior.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
