Kathy Allen
Librarian
Bachelor of Arts degree: Colorado University, Boulder, CO. Emergency Medical Technician Certificate and EMS Instructor’s Certificate from Kansas.
Kathy grew up on a farm in the Midwest. Her mother was pianist and organist for her home church for sixty years and her father was an elder in the church, so she had a permanent seat on the front row from two weeks of age. At the age of nine, Kathy decided she wanted to serve the Lord and be His. She asked Him into her heart and was baptized in that church. At the age of 17, she went to college where she met and married a godly Christian man, Keith Allen, at 19. They have been married 45 years and have been serving in churches since the day they were married. The Lord has blessed them with three children and nine grandchildren, all of whom are serving Him. PRAISE HIS NAME! The Lord continues to bless the Allens daily and they thank Him for everything He has given them.
In 2003 they moved to California to be able to spend more time with their grandchildren. It has been a great joy to be close to them and participate in their lives.
In 2004, Kathy began working as the receptionist for the Rock Church and she served in that capacity for three years. She then performed other duties at the church, but at the end of four years she felt the Lord leading her to help out in the Academy in some way. Because reading is one of her greatest joys, she was thrilled when she was asked to take over the position of librarian for the academy.
Since January Kathy has cataloged some 9000 books into the library, nearly all of them donations. One of the students asked when the library would be completed and Mrs. Allen told him, “Never, it will always be a work in progress.” The library is open during school hours and throughout the summer for anyone wanting to come in, read, check out a book, or just relax and enjoy the fish. We are still taking donations as well.
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
