Amy Joy

Born and raised in SoCal, Amy first met Jesus in 6th grade while attending Forest Home Christian Camp with Saddleback Church. Her older sister was later instrumental in bringing her to a dynamic youth-group at a non-denominational church. God brought amazing Christian friends into her life all throughout her youth, which helped shape her values and desire to serve.

While attending USD, Amy took a religion class taught by a protestant pastor which greatly deepened her relationship with the Lord. During her senior year she mentored girls at a local youth-group & volunteered at Camp Ronald McDonald – for kids with cancer. After graduating with a degree in Accounting, she felt called to get her teaching credential and work with youth directly. Amy first taught High School Math in inner-city LA, then Jr. High Math in LA/San Diego.

Amy has always had a love for traveling – has been blessed with the amazing opportunity to travel to almost 30 countries. Her first international trip was at the age of 17 when she went on a missions trip with her youth-group to share the gospel in Europe. In 2008 Amy was called to serve the Lord with the Miles Ahead Crusade in Jamaica. Most recently, she went to Haiti in 2010 with Believers World Outreach. She sums up both experiences as “to love and encourage the lost and discouraged.” She can’t wait to go where God sends her next…

God has called Amy back to Accounting for the season He has her in – what a blessing to be in a Christian school setting to balance her background! Through great loss and testing, God has developed strength in her that is only super-natural. She is in awe of how much He has restored in her life – thankful for her new-found dependency on prayer!
