AP Courses

The AP Program currently offers courses across multiple subject areas. Each is developed by a committee composed of college faculty and AP teachers, and covers the breadth of information, skills, and assignments found in the corresponding college course. The AP Examinations are administered each year in May and represent the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline in a secondary school setting. Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level. The involvement of college faculty at all levels of exam development and scoring ensures that the AP Exams truly reflect college-level achievement. Students who perform well can receive course credit and/or advanced standing at thousands of universities worldwide.

We currently offer the following AP Courses with plans to expand as our enrollment increases:

  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP Language and Composition
  • AP Spanish
  • AP Statistics
  • AP World History

Bible

All true learning has the truth of the Bible as its core foundation.

From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15-17

Bible is taught in a thoughtful and sequential way so that the child learns the beauty of the Scriptures from the beginning through the Revelation. As the child grows in knowledge of the Scripture, more abstract principles are investigated so that the child learns how to be a life-long student of the Bible.

Language Arts (Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing, etc.)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

It was through God's Word that all things came into being. The scriptures teach us that there is much power in the written and spoken word; in fact, the Lord saw fit to bring us His thoughts through the written Word.

Because God was the author and creator of language, and all things created have order and design, we know that language has specific grammatical rules. These rules, and the proper use of language, become key aspects in education so that students are raised up to impact the world around them through written and spoken language.

Mathematics

No subject matter better reflects the glory of God than mathematics. To study mathematics is to study God's thoughts after Him, for He is the great Engineer and Architect of the universe. Abeka Book Scope and Sequence

Mathematics reveals the consistency and beauty of God's truth. The laws of mathematics are a creation of God and thus absolute. As math is investigated and studied, we discover many times the error of man's thinking and the complete truth God designed. Math is used in measurements of fair trade, in scientific studies, and for producing all that is necessary or helpful to mankind.

History

"History teaches everything including the future." Lamartine

All of history (His story) points to Jesus Christ as the most pivotal point in human history. The Bible gives us the framework for all of history, geography, social and political science, from the inception of Creation through the prophesied Revelation. God expects us to learn practical and spiritual lessons from the study of past events so that we may observe His hand in the affairs of man and practice discernment in both current and future pursuits.

The Bible tells us we are all sinners who came from Adam through Noah, that God loves us all, and that we, as Christians, are His ambassadors of the gospel to the whole world. Our knowledge and understanding of peoples is based on these facts and is useful for nurturing the Christian leaders of tomorrow.

Science/Health

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter. Proverbs 25:2

"Modern science is the product of Western man's return to the Scriptures after the Protestant Reformation, leading to his desire to understand and subdue the earth, which he saw as the orderly, law-abiding creation of the God of the Bible." Abeka Book Scope and Sequence

The Bible, although not a science book, gives us knowledge and insight into all science. God created everything, and there was a catastrophic worldwide flood in Noah's time. These facts guide our understanding of what we see in nature. Moreover, our use of science must also reflect our respect for the sanctity of human life, as well as exhibit good stewardship of God's gifts and of His creatures.

Foreign Language (Spanish)

We hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God. Acts 2:11

The acquisition of other languages is integral and pivotal into our call of the great commission, to preach the good news of Jesus Christ unto all the world, making disciples of all men. Children have a unique ability to hear and acquire languages at a very young age. Their tongues are trained and formed while young. Therefore, we believe it is essential to give children the tools necessary to learn other languages throughout their lives.

Teaching children Spanish, because of our proximity to Mexico, not only helps their minds begin the processes necessary to acquire many languages, but also gives them working tools to minister to our neighbors across the border.

In order to enhance language development in our students, Latin and Greek words are being taught with the derived English and Spanish words.  The books that are being used are "English from the Roots Up" by Joegil K. Lundquist and "Latina Christiana" by Cheryl Lowe.
